The Hustinx Foundation was founded in 1961 to strengthen art and science in Maastricht. Founder Edmond Hustinx He believed that these two domains were precisely the driving force behind progress. He believed that encouraging talent invests in a better future. And when that ideal can be supported with capital, the impact truly becomes significant.
In its first decades, Hustinx, as chairman, personally guided the foundation. After his death in 1984, the board vigorously adopted his mission and continued its course: independence, expertise, and, above all, impact-oriented. Like many cultural foundations, the foundation prefers to operate behind the scenes. Yet, Maastricht knows it well, thanks to the numerous projects and awards made possible in a wide range of disciplines.

The foundation's assets are carefully managed. With the proceeds, we can allocate an average of approximately €100,000 annually to our goals, as well as reserves for specific projects. Since its inception, millions have been spent on promoting talent and culture in Maastricht and the surrounding area. The results are evident throughout the city: in scientific research, in the arts, and in talented individuals who, thanks in part to Edmond Hustinx, were able to spread their wings.
