Mounir Eddib

Mounir Eddib demonstrates that as an artist, he continues to search, to dig, to doubt, to build and build, to refine and refine. He won the Henriëtte Hustinx Prize for this in 2024.

Mounir Eddib connects the past and innovation

Mounir Eddib stood out with his series of paintings and spatial installations in which he interweaves personal stories with the history of his family and surroundings. Materials from his Moroccan background and the Limburg mining industry play a significant role in his work. The jury particularly praised his ability to combine emotion and experimentation: "His work immediately captivates and encourages reflection," the jury stated. "Mounir continues to challenge and innovate himself."

“With his untitled presentation of painting, spatial experiment, and artistic and heritage-related material research, Mounir Eddib offers a remarkably mature presentation of his qualities as an artist: a combination of wholly convincing artistic quality, emotional expressiveness, and an appreciation for experiment that enriches his indebtedness to painting as the basis of his artistic practice beyond the safely expected aesthetic vocabulary of an artist who, image by image, strives for original quality and presents it as a challenge to the viewer.”
